In the last year or so, our family has gotten away from buying cold cereal so I started making granola to have something on hand that would be quick for a morning breakfast. As I’ve tried and altered recipes, my family has come to love granola so I was excited when I was given the opportunity to review Uli’s Gluten Free Granola. We aren’t a gluten-free family but it is something that I am considering to see if it will help with some issues some of my family have.
Udi sent me packages of their Gluten Free Vanilla, Gluten Free Original, Gluten Free Cranberry and Gluten Free Au Naturel Granola. I had heard of Udi and had seen several of Udi’s Gluten-Free products in my local stores but we had never tried anything by Udi and I had not seen their granola before now.
The Gluten Free Cranberry Granola was a family favorite, especially for my children. They loved the flavor! The Gluten Free Vanilla Granola was my favorite. The vanilla flavor was not overpowering. My husband’s favorite was the Gluten Free Original. Not one person in our family disliked any of the flavors but we did have our favorites. 🙂 We were all impressed with the flavors and the fact the granola did not get soggy before we had finished what was in our bowls. Another thing that I appreciate about Udi’s granola and other products is that they don’t contain artificial ingredients and very few preservatives. That has become important to our family in the last year.
One of our hesitations about trying gluten-free products was the flavor or possible lack of flavor. My husband has been concerned that if we give up something like gluten, we might be giving up flavors that we enjoy. So when my husband saw the packages of Udi’s Gluten Free Granola, he was immediately doubtful. Guess who has been eating and enjoying bowl after bowl of Udi’s Gluten Free Granola? Yup, my husband! lol I don’t think he is completely sold on the gluten-free idea but he is sold on Udi’s Gluten Free Granola!
I wanted to create a recipe using one or several of the granolas that Udi sent but because of morning sickness, cooking has not been a top priority right now. However, we have used the granola in several simple ways:
- Cold breakfast
- Sprinkled on yogurt
- Sprinkled on ice cream
- Mixed with sliced fruit
So what about you? Have you made the switch to gluten-free products/living? Have you noticed a benefit in you or your family? Maybe you are like us and are still considering going gluten-free. I highly recommend checking out Udi’s website. They offer several products besides granola (breads, muffins, cookies, pizza, etc) that are gluten-free. You can also go here to sign up and receive a $1 Udi’s Product coupon!
Udi’s Gluten Free Foods are now 150 Wal-Mart stores across the country! To see if there is a Walmart near you that carries Udi’s, enter your zip code into their store locator: www.udisglutenfree.com/stores
