Before this pregnancy, I was trying really hard to make weekly meal plans and even posted many. We were using recipes fro Weight Watchers and making them “Clean Eating” style as needed. It was fun but work. After the first few months of pregnancy, I just didn’t have the energy or desire (who wants to think about food when you have morning sickness all day long?) to meal plan and it showed in our dinners. 🙁
We now have about 4 weeks to go until we meet this new little one and while I’m still dealing with morning sickness throughout the day, it’s not as bad as the 4-5 months. We also want to start this year off right with sticking to our food budget and keeping it low. As a family of 6 (soon to be 7), we’d like to get our budget down to $300 a month for groceries. That is my goal for this year. I know some months (like this one) will be higher because we’ll be able to get some things like chicken on sale but it will carry us through the next month.
I came up with about 11 different meals. I won’t have to buy ingredients for 31 different meals so it will save us. Plus, I will double some of the meals and stick them in the freezer for the following week or whenever we have that same meal again. So here is our menu plan for Jan.
