Maybe you’ve missed posts, maybe you haven’t. It’s just me here blogging when I find time between 4 kids (well, now 5), homeschooling, trying to keep the house clean, cooking and whatever else comes up. It really doesn’t leave much time for blogging, looking for deals and typing up posts but I love blogging so even though I’m not consistent, it’s still my little spot to come to and relax when I have a chance.
Lately, my consistency has been even worse but I have a good excuse. ๐ Valentine’s Day started off like any other normal day. In fact, the whole day went like any normal day with the exception of being 12 days past my due date with #5. Our plan was to go to our midwife’s house the following morning (Feb. 15th) and induce via some pitocin since I was going so far beyond the due date. I spent Valentine’s day resting off and on in preparation for the coming day.
And then… I couldn’t stand resting anymore and headed to our office that we are trying to organize. I spent about an hour on the floor sorting books, books and more books. It was about 7:00 or 7:30 PM when I finally had enough sitting on the floor and had noticed some painful contractions here and there (not unusual for this pregnancy – in fact, we had two false labor alarms this time around making me really question whether or not I could tell if I was going into labor or not lol).
I headed for the couch and decided to rest for a few minutes to see if the contractions stopped. They didn’t, but they weren’t close and they weren’t getting worse. I decided to call my husband around 8:00 PM anyway and let him know that contractions had returned and it would be better for him to come home when he was done with his route instead of trying to catch people he had missed earlier in the day. Amazingly, he got home around 8:30 PM (that is really quick for him) and we called his mom to come over and watch the kids while we headed to the midwife.
Honestly, I was scared it was another false alarm but the contractions did get closer and harder so we called the midwife and headed her way. We arrived a little after 10:30 PM. After getting situated, it was determined that I wasn’t in false labor – yay! – and I wouldn’t have to be induced the following day (a relief for me after having been induced before).
A little after an hour of being at the midwife’s house and with just 22 minutes to spare on Valentine’s Day, we welcomed another son into the world. Allow me to introduce you to John, who weighed 9lbs 8oz and was 19-3/4″ long. ๐
This was taken about 8 hours after he was born. All 4 of his siblings were thrilled to wake up and discover they had a new little brother. And needless to say, we all love and adore our little guy and feel extremely blessed.
So now you know why the last 2 weeks have been so quiet around here. ๐ We are slowly getting into a routine with a new little one. John loves to eat and at his 2-week check up, he had already gained 8 oz. On top of welcoming a new little one, we’ve been sick. I’ve had to deal with a 48-hour bug… twice now. The kids are also dealing with a bug.ย I will slowly get back to blogging but it will probably still be somewhat inconsistent as we continue adjust. ๐
On his way to his 2-week check up. ๐
