Last year, or the year before, I was reading about Home Management Binders on a couple different blogs and I thought “What a great idea. I need one!” As a mom of 5 young children, I tend to forget things that need to be done. I would lose a bill, forget when one was due or just get behind in paperwork. And schedules? Cleaning schedules, routine schedules, etc? Yeah, those were great ideas… if I ever got around to making one. lol
After reading several blog posts talking about having a home management binder, I set off to make my own. I printed form after form after form… and did I mention I printed a lot of forms? By the time I was done printing, my 1″ binder was stuffed. I went a bit over board with printables, not to mention I made several myself since some of the pre-made were just not working for me. It was a bit ridiculous and I ended up only using a few sheets in a couple of the sections but my binder remained stuffed.
Enter Getting It Together by Kayse Pratt last month.
In Getting It Together, Kayse talks about the reasons why a home management binder are beneficial. She covers the top 5 reasons why you need one, how to make one and she shares around 30 printables to help you get started. Getting It Together is full of practical advice and yet it’s a quick and easy read. I also loved how her fun personality comes through the book. I could relate to her and found myself agreeing with her on several occasions, one being matching printables. lol
I love that Kayse gives a step-by-step of how to and then she gives you the printables to make it happen. You can always change the order or add your own printables but she gives you a place to start without a ton of printables that might not work. And yes, I totally revamped my binder with Kayse’s printables. I’m still using some of the ones I made in addition to the ones she provided in Getting It Together. My binder is now half as thick and much much more functional.
