I used to think that I was a fan of coffee anything… any kind, any flavor. And then came the day that I had my first sip of a light roast. I honestly can’t remember when I had a cup of coffee that I couldn’t finish but that, that was definitely one. It tasted like brown colored water, only worse. I looked up at my husband and said never again. I’ll stick to my dark roast.
Don’t get me wrong, I rarely drink straight black coffee, but I do like to make sure that my coffee is still going strong after I add the creamer and maybe some sweetener. You could say that I like my coffee to stand up on it’s own two feet once the creamer and have a hint of sweetener have been mixed in. Yes, yes… I believe I’ve discovered something about myself in the last couple months and that is I like my coffee dark.
Silly as it may be, it’s just the way it is for me.
I used to drink coffee just because, but now, it’s become a part of my morning routine of getting up. If I can get to bed early enough, I enjoy getting up early, having some quiet time before the kids get up and sipping on my cup of coffee. The routine seems to set the pace for my day. Unfortunately, lately, it feels like we’re burning the candle way down at night and getting up at 4:30-5:00 every morning hasn’t been happening and coffee has become more of a jump start to my day more than anything.
I like trying different things with my coffee, blending it, pouring it over ice, etc but if I’m trying to squeeze in even just a little quiet time in the morning, I don’t attempt much to make it interesting as I want to wake the whole house up. However, I recently discovered Folgers Flavors and have to say, I’m having fun adding extra flavor to my morning cup of coffee without having to use extra creamer.
Folgers Flavors are small, portable and don’t require refrigeration so I’ve stashed a couple in my purse for when I’m running errands or at church. I love that I can flavor any cup of coffee I have while I’m out. Hello newest ‘at restaurant cup of coffee’ concoction! Yes, I’m pretty sure I have discovered the newest staple for my purse.
