We considered refinancing our mortgage several times in the last couple years, but each time we looked into it, we discovered that we wouldn’t save much. While the interest rate was a bit lower, it wasn’t low enough and once you factored in the closing costs and fees, it just wasn’t worth it.
Fast forward to March of this year. We decided it was time to look into it again. The interest rates were lower and we figured it couldn’t hurt. My husband hopped online and saw an ad for Lending Tree. He entered our info and within minutes, Lending Tree called him. After they talked to my husband, they then passed him on to a loan officer at Residential Finance, Susan Harvey.
Susan, at Residential Finance, was awesome and I really mean awesome and incredibly patient. While my husband was on the phone with her, our dog took off and our kids started panicking because of it, so he passed the phone to me while he went and grabbed the dog. Susan didn’t miss a beat. She had no problem repeating to me what she had told my husband. That initial phone call lasted over 2 hours, thanks to interruptions (on our part) and Susan explaining things to my husband and then explaining things to me, etc.
Have you ever had a lending company call you and all you feel is that they are being pushy? They’re more concerned about securing your business rather than really taking the time with you and explaining the process. Yeah, we had been there, done that before and we didn’t want to repeat that kind of experience again. Susan was nothing like that. At the end of that 2 hour conversation, both my husband and I knew what route we wanted to go.
Susan was well informed and able to explain things clearly to us. She didn’t appear bothered in the least by our many emails and phone calls over the whole refinance process. She was kind, friendly and helpful. And in the end, she ended up saving us almost $300 a month on our mortgage.
Our refinance process wasn’t without it’s bumps though. My husband hadn’t been at his current job for a full 2 years (we were about 2 months short) and that was a problem for a lender. Susan worked hard to still get our refinance processed and in the end, she found a lender who only required 1 year at the job. We felt blessed to say the least. Once Susan had that all in place, she worked it out so a notary could come to our home for us to sign and initial all the papers. Why? Because we have one vehicle, 5 kids (one was just a newborn at the time) and my husband had to get to work.
Both my husband and I felt like Susan went above and beyond her job in helping us secure a refinanced loan. We never dealt with anyone else at Residential Finance but I do know that after our experience, we would recommend them and especially Susan Harvey in a heart beat. Susan managed to develop a relationship with us, even though we are over 3000 miles apart. Yes, we live in CA and Susan lives in FL.
If you are considering refinancing, I recommend calling Susan Harvey at Residential Finance. Her office number is (813) 402-4638 ext. 1389. I believe you will receive the same excellent service from her that we received.
