As my kids started to grow and with them, their pretty curly hair, I was reminded of the day when I was young and hated my hair being brushed. I remembered the tears, tangles and multiple test brushes. My mom finally found a boars hair brush that worked good but took oh so long.
Three of our four children have had ringlet style curly hair and on top of that, they all inherited their mommy’s sensitive head so finding a brush that works has always been a pain. The boars hair has been the best for the sensitive head but they have always been difficult when it comes to snarls. My oldest daughter, though her hair is no longer a set of ringlets, she still has wave to her waist length hair and it tangles easily. Freshly clean/wet hair is always easier to brush through but still, she doesn’t wash her hair everyday and spraying it with water just didn’t have the same effect.
As for the other style brushes, there have been many tears shed because of how they pull on the hair so I finally resorted to just keeping braids in their hair everyday. Leaving the girls’ hair down or in pony tails would only resort to a mess of tangles by the end of the day. And yes, even with detangler and hair lotions, just nothing worked well.
Recently, we tried the Smoobee brush and both my girls LOVE it. Smoobee uses the boars hair style bristles for the sensitive head while still using some of the other style for the tangles but it doesn’t snag or catch their hair and we can brush all the tangles out within a couple of minutes instead of the 10+ minutes that regular boars hair brushes require. For once, both mommy and girls are thrilled with the same brush and they have shed no tears.
My girls no longer get upset when I ask them to bring their brush. And of course, they love the added bedazzled effect with the flower stickers that their Smoobee brush came with! 🙂
